Anybody running an SPS dominant reef under these lights yet? I’m starting a new build 48x24x16, SPS dominant, and more than likely will run it with two of the gen2 200 watts and an xr15 pro in the center. Just wondering if anyone is having good acro growth with them

Everything I've seen shows that the 200w Gen 2 Nicrew is, for all intents and purposes, a Radion XR30. Spectrum, spread and intensity are all VERY close. If you could light the tank with XR30s, and grow the coral you want to grow with XR30s, you'll be fine.

These are good lights and there are quite a few fans of Nicrew on here.
2 of them would be fine for you.

My only concern would be shadowing in a SPS tank.
In certain cases in a heavily grown out system that CAN be a concern, but I think it's a concern that people are way overly concerned about when for most of them it's not an issue at all.

When all we had was metal halide, corals still grew nicely...

My canopy is stuffed with lights. When I trade acros with my friend running kessils, the acros are always dead or brown on one side. They look great in his tank, as long as you don’t move them.

Agreed corals grow nicely with metal halide!

From all that I’ve seen on them they seem very comparable to an xr30. And par numbers are very good as well, certainly plenty enough for acros. Obviously they haven’t been out long enough to have people starting with small frags of high end stuff grown out into colonies but I do think they’re capable of it.

I have the gen 2 lights, while i dont have a sps dominated tank i do have a few acros and other sps and they are growing them just fine. My light is only at 45 percent too.

I absolutely love the way MH tanks look. I’ve never had one but the ones I see here are just so much more attractive to me than blue tanks. Even my current take is pretty white, it’s a t5/led hybrid system. I have the nicrews currently just haven’t taken them out of the box. The atlas are currently out of stock waiting for a response to when they may be available again and also have my fellers out for a MH setup. So haven’t completely thrown in the towel on the NICREW but we’ll just have to wait and see

Thanks for the reply. The Quanta stuff does look interesting. We had a 29g tank with a MH light and it was bright and pretty white. I am not so much into the blue myself, so definitely will be running more daylight.
