Hi my reefing family! Only in the a hobby for one year and it's been hard to keep things going.
I have some Sps corals that have been turning green on me. I will attach some pictures shortly. For example my Aqua Delight sps is showing shimmering green colors, my Rainbow Loom sps lost its purple tips and it's all green, my Pink Cadillac Sps is also turning greenish and the green slimer starting to hide the polyps and it's turning brown. I'm guessing low light conditions but I have other sps corals that look great. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The nutrient levels are good all around. Icp done in Aug and there wasn't anything crazy but had to add some small amounts of trace elements. I apologise for the poor quality photos but you get the gist.

With SPS, having some sticks that look good (or even great) while others don’t look properly colored is often par for the course.

The needs of these living creatures are not always the same or else they would all look great if one was?

The good news is that since you have some that are doing well, you can hope that with time the “slow starters” will also hit their groove in your tank and eventually almost all will be glowing with amazing colors.

A tank without one mocha fudge brownie and one stick that fails to change, grow, or make any visible improvement is a very rare thing in tanks with mixed sticks.

I could tell you why this is if I new why, but I don’t think I have ever heard anyone explain this observed phenomenon, I have just seen or heard that it is what it is.

Maybe stressed from a combination of things. Low par, not enough flow...my past experience was from very high nutrients which leads to high production of zooxanthellae for energy which turns the acro brown, than bails and stn starts. You can test and start there...takes a while to get it dialed in and may lose a few pieces, so patience is key.

Thanks...I appreciate the comments. I have increased the light intensity and will watch the corals closely, though I realize the change will be slow. It is definately time to rent a par meter.

You can pick one up pretty cheap on eBay . I got mine for under 100.00 . I found a thread by telegraph with the corrections all broken out from his testing and already 5 or 6 different meters .
