Like the title says, I'm thinking about getting a SQWD and hooking it up to my return line. Just looking for some feedback on it before I pick one up. Please let me know how it has worked out for those of you that have used one. Thanks

Had the small one. I liked the alternating flow. It choked off a lot of flow, however. After awhile, it started locking up and requiring regular removal and cleaning, which was a huge pain. Then it broke. I didn't replace it and was surprised at how much flow it was choking off. Can't recommend it.

+1 to what Gary said. Starts off as a cool idea then ends up more hassle than it's worth IMO.

I would concur with gparr mine didnt need that much manual work but it did break at the 8 month mark and was gonna cost like 80 dollars for a new motar so i just junked it.

I'd have to agree with the above comments. I REALLY like the flow, but it choked back way too much flow. I'd love to try the 1" version to see if it chokes back as much.

I know its a little more money but have you put thought into a ocean motion squart?

Wow. Well that was easy. I don't know anything about the ocean motion squart, I'll have to look it up. I want to randomize (is that a word?) my flow a bit and the SCWD seemed like a simple way to do it but I guess not. Maybe I'll keep saving for a vortech.

The ocean motion can handle up to liek 1500GPH and two pieces of pvc or what can come out of it. It only opens one line at a time, they also have one with four and it raindomly opens the four.

Here you go they have some videos and you will understand it a little more then me typing it.

Oceans Motions

It looks interesting. Have you had one yourself and if so how long have you had it. I don't mind paying for something just want something that will last.

You can find them used for 200ish yea they are quality used one for two years. i know some one who has used it for four years.

I used a Oceans Motion 4 way squirt for a while, it was pretty cool. I didn't have enough flow going through it, but it was nice to use it to get some different flow into the tank. I had one of their first models, so before Vortechs got big.

btkrausen, how much flow did you have going through yours? My return is 1500gph and feeds my display and my frag tank.

Oh, way less than that. I only had like a Mag 7.5 at the time. The OM Squirt was on my 76 gal half Circle tank, so I used it to bring flow to the front since I couldn't really put powerheads on the rounded part of the tank.
