What kind of star fish is this and is it reef (fish, coral) safe?

It's definitely not a blue linckia. This is mostly brown with blue/silver highlights. A blue linckia is very very very blue.

I was told its a FL common star fish, but wanted to verify before adding to the display. He's not being a jerk in the frag tank currently.

Definitely looks to be of the Echinaster species. I also founf this which looks very similar.

That looks almost exactly like it, so I'd say its the same
