Asternia star. Some are harmless, some can eat corals and Zoas. The also have a nasty tendency to reproduce at an alarming rate...
Personally, I remove as many as I can

How do I find out what type I have? I haven't seen any on my corals or Zoas just on the rocks

Looks like you have the common algae eating type. The coral eaters are usually blue/brown. There are many different types though.

One minute you have 1 or 2, next week 100.... It IS possible....

Consider yourself warned, or at least advised...

My brother had 1 Asterina and three years later without removing any, he only has 5-6. I haven't experienced them reproducing quickly.

This is a little off-topic, but what I have seen reproduce quickly are brittle stars. He started with 1 and now has about 1000.
