Dear all,

If I may, for all of you I'm Ryan, I'm from Gibraltar. I have decided to move from freshwater to the magnificent saltwater hobbie (I hear hooray's in the background). I have bought the Eheim Scubacube 165 marine aquarium. I need your advice and I will post further updates as I go along...

To start off I have bought a second hand skimmer which has only been used for 4 months and also a second hand wave maker. They are in good working order as they are from a family friend and I know he has taken care of them here are pictures of them...

I need some assistance with what I will need to place inside my sump apart from the heater and skimmer. My intentions are to buy a heater obviously, a 7kg bucket of Red Sea Salt, 5kgs of live sand, and roughly 10kgs of live rock and 10kgs of dead rock for the cycling period. I am also going to place live copepods in the tank to speed up the cycle ( if recommended ), I also need a return pump, can someone please recommend how many LPH should my return pump do ?

Here is an image of my sump just to give you an idea...

In the compartment where the egg crate plastic is, my intention is to place filter floss and simple filter sponge. Please give me your views on this...

I also want to take this opportunity to ask you all, "what would you do?"
I have ideas exploding everywhere by many people... Some say make it a breeding tank, some say make it a fish and rock only and get some aggressive fish and some say make it a community tank with some corals... please give me ideas...

More to follow, please contribute

*Welcome to Reef2Reef,Ryan!* I can't help you with your return pump question. However I would suggest visiting the member tanks section of the forum. This will give you a better idea of the differences between the types of aquariums.Get an idea of the types of creatures you like,do your research and add them to your system slowly.I personally would do a mixed reef tank with a few peaceful fish.
