Just wanted to say hello and tell everyone a little about my history . Just got back into the hobby. I kept a reef for almost 20 years. However that was 20 years ago! From west coast of Florida. I recently acquired a used set up with cured live rock that he had for four years. I added special grade live sand. Salt mixed RODI from LFS. Back in the day I would get my brothers dirty bio bags and cured rock and go at it. This system has been up for 14 days now. Four fish. All seems well so far. Looking to remove a couple fish and add some soft corals. No ammonia spike. Not sure there will be on due to the rock and sand? This system was cleaned and empty when I got it. The rock was kept under circulation with no lights for a week or so. Would love some input from the group on how to move forward? AIO 25 Waterbox.

Welcome.

I’d look into making your own rodi and saltwater going forward. I think you’ll find with regular water changes, you will quickly pay your LFS in their water for the cost of making it yourself at home and you won’t have to haul it around.
