The real fun begins now. Got this done over the weekend... Chasing every single small leak is a pain! But it is coming together fast now. More pics to follow.

The vision is almost realized. No more leaks. Aqua scape done. Just need to hook up some hardware. Not gonna hardwire until system tested and proven. The tank should be cycled, but I’ll test after I’m finished. The live rock grew some hair algae while curing so clean up crew first before any fish or corals.

What is the purpose of this stand pipe on the skimmer outlet? I have never ran an external skimmer before; so sorry if this is a silly question.

I believe it is to allow air through the return for smooth flow, while also preventing overflow should the skimmer go crazy. It definitely is a bit oversized for my tank, but i like to feed heavy.

What is the small container with sand and rock for?
Just another cube with a small dsb; and part of the clean aesthetic that I hope will eventually house a haddoni carpet anemone (likes to bury in sand) or with more rocks a gigantea anemone. I'd like to have a bonded pair of clowns along with the anemone but i do not want it climbing on the main structure saved for SPS only.

Just 2 MP40 in the lower corner? Interesting...
I have one that makes a wave while the other goes through several different settings. The openness of the aqua scape and bare bottom really allows me to open the power and keeps things moving with just 2.
The mantis tank is now a mangrove tank…

Really digging this. The way you set up the overflow will work nicely with 4 viewing panels. Well planned.

Did you go G5 pro or blue? I'm going back and forth with this decision...
I went with Pro. I am old school from the 10K days and do not like the oversaturated blue look we typically see now. But the blue users do seem to lean lps, softie, polyps and mushrooms. With the flooded blue look, every normal frag looks to be a designer limited edition to me now. ;)

The funny thing is, I'm also from that era (my 90g was up from 05/6ish-10) and I hated 10k even with my 2 t5 blue+... looked yellow to me. I jumped on the Pheonix 14k, then eventually to Radium 20k. That said, I have the reefbrite add on with a g3 pro and notice the spread sucks. Are you running that light on the 10k preset?

Here was my fixture I had built (lumenbright minis, radium 20k, 2 blie+) and the 90g. I will say, Radiums on the m80 ballast were quite white with a hint of blue. I have seen the G5 Pro in person, but not the blue yet...I'm wanting to see it before I make my purchase. I'm trying to figure out of it'll fill my 60g cube without the reefbrites... if so, I'm thinking about going blue, if not, pro.

:grinning-face-with-sweat:Looks similar to some of my old fixtures. Over my career ive had homemade, Geisemanns to Hamiltons, 6k to 20k. As far as spread, that will depend on the dimensions as I find the G5, at best and stretching, covering 30 inches when using the predetermined Radion arm height. I installed a Reefbreeders Nano that sits right over the small cube dsb as a supplement, while the G5 only needs to mainly cover the main structure. For your 60 i think it will work... Currently I am playing with the Mobius presets PHX14 and AB+.

On the subject of lighting and spread, i think many reefers both newbie and veteran and I include myself, tend to cram as much stuff as they can into their tanks. When tanks first started using live rock, the trend was to build a rock wall in your tanks... literally a wall of rocks. That rock wall in the wild is awe inspiring when scuba diving but in our tanks it can look a bit muddled. Today, I am finding reef tanks that mind the negative space as well as the positive space to be much more pleasing, and that also can eliminate the need for lighting the whole aquarium equally. The tank you see in my initial post had wall to wall sps... i wont be doing that this time around.

Agreed, I'm not a rock wall guy, but I do have rock going front to back with a channel in the center... so I need that 24x24 coverage. If I turn just the g3 on, I see a lot of shadowing...I use the reefbrites just to fill. From what I can tell, the g5 should fill close to how a t5 does

Now that the tank is settled a bit I’ve been able to observe some fauna that came with the Florida live rock. On this rock alone it appears to be 4 types of plants. That red weed looks cool, but the others look like trouble if it gets out of hand. And I’m trying to avoid getting a tang.

Is this aiptasia? I have found two of these tiny things and hope they are not.
