Stocking 34 gallon

Hey guys! Just looking for opinions and advice on stocking my tank. It is fully established/cycled and parameters are within range. I started with a Wyoming white clownfish, 2 trochus snails, 1 turbo snail, 1 Halloween hermit, and another type of hermit. I just added a Royal gramma yesterday, who mainly hides in the rock but comes out at times. Just looking for suggestions on what else I can/should add to make the tank diverse. Also how many more fish and or inverts.
i would like my next addition to be a fish that is bright colored but doesn’t hide much like the gramma and is peaceful. Thanks in advance!

You could fit 2 more fish (3 at a push) in the tank. 4-5 is a good number, I’d personally try to keep it at 4 due to the size your current fish will get.

Its hard to tell how many fish you can have, probably around 4-5 is a good number, but more can be added if no aggression and nutrients are in check after months or a year.

Are you doing a reef tank or just fish?

One of my favorites for that size reef tank is a longnose hawkfish.

Depends on what you want. You could potentially pair the clown. Shrimpgoby + pistol shrimp is a good addition to another tank. A blenny makes a fun addition and does a bit for algae. Firefish are very beautiful and peaceful. Longnose hawk is also a really good fish.

Falco hawk fish is really cool. Benghi cardinal is a good choice.

This tank will be just a fish tank, I will eventually get a larger tank to do a reef tank once I become more knowledgeable on saltwater. I was thinking about a yellow watchman goby. My dream fish would be a Valentini or peacock puffer but I’ve heard mixed things about the size tank they require. I do like firefish as well…decisions decisions lol.

So I like the puffer too, and this size tank would be good for them, however you say you want to upgrade in the future to get a reef tank which cause a problem since the puffers are 50/50 about being reef safe. I wouldnt risk getting it now and limiting your options for corals in the future.

Yeah they can be difficult to keep for new reefers as they need an established supply of pods.

Look into filefish. They are a cousin to puffers and will display a lot of the same behaviors.

I've really enjoyed my Springer's damsel in my 32.5. The nice thing about it is that it's out a lot of the time, so it sort of acts like a dither fish for the others and helps them to feel more confident in coming out of hiding (my own royal gramma spends most of his time outside of his cave). It's also an amazing shade of blue. That said, I've heard damsels, even the more peaceful ones like springer's, can be hit or miss on temperament, and you might get a more aggressive one. I got mine at a trusted LFS where I could observe for a while and pick one that wasn't harassing any of its tankmates.
