have any of you surfed the web and seen YOUR photo on someone elses website or page? i did some web surfing just now and saw this guy with a bunch of photos that looked like he grabbed all over the internet. one of those photos happened to be mines.

is he using them for selling anything publicly? If so, I hope he's using some of mine, I could always use an extra easy 10-20k...

If you send an e-mail to him and copy his ISP it will be removed rather quickly.


From experience, good luck on collecting anything unless it is used in print.

Awhile back there was a guy on ebay with 8 stolen photos from various people...he got shut down and probably some nasty emails but that was it.

Could someone send a link or something, just curious.=)

Not to start an argument, but on seven occasions when discovering my work displayed on sites without my permission, an e-mail to the site along with a copy to the ISP that hinted at legal action had the pictures in question removed almost immediately.

I run a web hosting company. All you need to do is send them a properly formatted DMCA violation notice and they will take the image(s) offline. Doesn't matter if its a shared server or a dedicated server, their host will have admin rights. Only Co-located servers are "safe", but they can still demand the customer take the image off. If you need a form let me know.

I'm not trying to argue, but how would an ISP (internet service provider, your connection to the internet) have the ability to remove anything from your webhost? That doesn't make any sense? Unless they happen to get their hosting from their ISP.

Ooops, I'm an Internet illiterate. Web host is the proper terminology for the firm that hosts the website. I guess that is what I meant to say. I thought they (ISP/Server) were interchangeable.

no worries... i was surfing reef index when i stumbled upon his site. the photo he used is my red gracilaria photo. Heres his website.. http://www.angelfire.com/fl5/coralspc/ Alot of the other macro algae photos look familiar also (not mines).. i'm not upset, he likes macros :)
