Have you tried an emerald crab? They devoure bubble algae

Not yet brother, I am sort of taking the long and steady approach. I am 80% free, by just scraping and brushing and siphoning. No big deal, it is something that I have seen in nearly EVERY acro system, including mine. I had bad luck with emeralds picking polyps off corals instead of bubble. I guess it depends on the system and what they are available to eat on. Never had luck personally. I have just always used the elbow grease approach, lol...
Bubble persisting while corraline dies, tells me what I need to know about the source contamination. That said, like a garden, all plants are there for a reason, even weeds, or at least what we have been indoctrinated into believing are weeds, lol. They pull certain contaminants, or condition, or even pull heavy metals, so when they are present, typically it is for a reason. Applying the same sort of logic here, and have watched the transition of algae and the stages, seems like the course is on track. That said, when I hit the year mark, the acros will probably start to go bezerk. Either way, I am stoked to see this tank doing so well, these nanos can be super challenging.
All the best Jesse~

Good morning 🙏
Sorry, but do to unforseen circumstances, I won't be able to go live with Rich, and with the holidays upcoming, schedules will be difficult, for great reason. We'll catch up the chats in the new year.
I will be doing an update video to show progression, and any adjustments in routine, parameters, etc.

Hi all,
Due to internet issues here at my home, going to put off Rebel Reef until 1/16/26
Sorry for delayed notice,
Happy New Year!!!

I cannot feed enough to this tank, I am not using bacteria source or carbon source, with the exception of weekly Calcium Carbonate snow that has a couple drops of ZeoBak. I was struggling with algaes, and weirdness with imbalance. Through several interviews with amazing reefers, I have found balance through minimalism. I do have a filter sock in place, and protein skimmer. Soon, the sock comes off, just making sure this low nutrient thing since the change up a few weeks back sticks, and the algae is not a problem moving forward. I am fairly confident, so next water change, Saturday, no more sock, again utilizing this gardening approach to reefing. More than gardening, it is regenerative type farming. I have been feeding my fish 3 times per day with LRS and have been stuffing Roids in the tank weekly too. I feed CV from KZ at 2 drops 3 times per week as a supplement food. I will be getting some of the concotion and switch over to it as the CV expires. The idea here is that the increase in feeding has bottomed my nutrients out, however, my corals are glowing and growing. I am not a fan of testing nutrients, and above, this shows that the idea that ULNS are starving the corals is not true in every system.
