Every morning, before work, I take my streamlight flashlight to the tank to see what's been going on in the dark. I've run across the strange swimming bugs that move very quickly but only come out at night. I would take a picture if I could, but they are so fast I have no hope of ever snapping a pic in the dark.
They seem to be most prevalent in the low flow corners of the tank. As far as I can tell, they aren't yet bothering anything in the tank. These organisms are off-white, swim freely in the water column, and are about 1/4" long. There are 3-4 of them in the tank so far, assuming the things I've counted are all the same. I've had amphipods in my old tank, and these kind of look like them but I don't ever recall seeing amphipods swim freely in the water. The light makes them quickly swim back into the rocks. Thoughts?
