Hello,

I am new to the saltwater game. I’ve had my tank running for about 5 months and for the last 5 days I’ve noticed heavy breathing, and not eating from my pair of clowns. Not sure if this is an infection or because I added a Melanus wrasse about 2 weeks ago and not sure if he is bullying them.

Parameters

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
Ph 8.1
Temp 77
Salinity 1.026
Phosphate 0.06

If it’s an infection I am able to obtain a hospital tank by today and try my best to save him with medication. I would appreciate some feedback.

Poor fish is diseased and need fish medics help. #fishmedics

How big is the tank? What’s all the white stuff on the glass ? No algae at all in a 5 month tank? Something seems off on the tank for the fish to get that way after 5 months.

Fish appears discolored from excess mucus due to brooklynella disease
While formalin based medication is best , it’s also harder to find
Ruby rally pro will help with this
Any other fish in with clown?

It’s a 25 gallon im nuvo ext lagoon. tank went through the ugly stage already and the CUC does a great job at maintaining the algae. As to the white stuff I have no idea what it is I’m guessing is some type of algae because the snails seem to eat it.

It’s only the pair of clowns and one Melanus wrasse but he is doing good eating and swimming around the tank.

it’s only the pair of clowns and one Melanus wrasse. The wrasse looks healthy and it’s always eating and swimming around. I am able to obtain ruby rally pro through chewy. How would I go from dosing the medication? Any other medications that I would need as well ?

The pictures are a bit distorted. Any chance of being able to post a video of them?

That does look like severe Brooklynella.

You might try a 5 minute FW dip to buy some time before you can get a Ruby Reef treatment started. I will caution you though that these fish are very sick, and formalin might be the only treatment to use, and then they might not make it.

Thank you for the feedback. I was able to set up the quarantine tank today and started dosing rally. Hopefully they will make it. It’s been an hour since set up and the fish look better. Thank you all for the help. I will keep this updated as the clowns progress.
