So I have my nem in a little box at the top of the tank so it cannot escape and I was able to put my clownfish in there so I could get him to go in it and when I caught the clownfish and put him in it looks like he was getting stung and we was like floating around in there so I took him out and let him back in the tank and he’s all pale in color and has like white stringy stuff coming off of him anyone know why the nem was stinging him?

What type of anemone? Had the clown ever nested in an anemone before? Usually clowns take a couple days to acclimate to an anemone if they have never nested one before.

Stings typically appear as black spots on the fish.
You might be seeing more of a stress response in this case.
Could you attach some pics/video?

Chicago sunburst, I don’t think the clown ever has I got them from a previous tank owner who had them for two years. I replied to another person with pics if you would take a look

I’m seeing a lot of mucus production that could be from ich or brook (which is a bigger issue and would require treatment), but nothing suggests stings to me.

A BTA is not a natural host for a DaVinci (ocellaris). Sometimes if forced into an anemone, particularly a non-natural host, they'll get stung. If you were able to watch it happen, it looks like the clown is getting electrocuted--jerky movements that appear involuntary.

Is it possible there is any aggression since they have a nem? I have seen several females become aggressive once they are being hosted.
