Hi All!

I recently purchased my first sps. I was told it was a stylo however I am not sure and think it potentially might be a birdsnest?

Anyway, when I bought it, it was a lovely toxic green colour like my hammers. Now, the green is less toxic and the bit between the polyps is white. There is also a bit of brown on the end of each branch.

I have attached a photo of it now (please excuse algae, have had to turn all media, skimmer and no water change due to ich treatment).
There is also a second photo showing the placement of it originally on top of arch (1), it then fell down and landed perfectly at (2), but I then noticed the mentioned problems and have now located it at (3) at a worry that it was not getting enough light. Now I’m writing this I am wondering if I needs more light and need to go back to location (1)?

Parameters are:

Salinity - 1.025
Ph - 8.2
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0.25
Phosphate - 0.03
KH - 9
Calcium - 435
Mag - 1280

its a birdsnest (stylo is a plating type of coral). as mentioned above, light and flow are important for this coral

Green bird’s nest (Seriatopora sp.) don’t like as much light as the pink variety. Mine did poorly with super high light under 400w metal halides but took off once I shaded it under a stylophora. The pink Seriatopora thrives directly under the MH bulb:

I’d keep yours low at position number 3 for a few weeks and see what happens.
