Substrate problems

Hi guys I just set up my first saltwater tank about 5 days ago. It is a 10 gallon aquarium and I went with the marineland penguin 150 filter. The problem is that the filter is causing a big dent to form in the sand over time. I cannot move the filter do to the lid on my aquarium. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

It is right against the glass so I would prefer not to

Cut a piece of Poly-filter to fit in the outlet opening (assuming your filter has a plastic thingy at the outlet to hold the Poly-filter in place). It will break up the flow.

I'm not sure if I understand the problem correctly, but couldn't you just super glue a few pieces of rubble on the filter to break up the flow? Right on the lip?

I can see right at the glass you wouldn't want a rock.

I like the rubble on the filter idea. I would use GE silicone 1 over superglue in this application, but it would require way more drying time.

It appears that your tanks is not all the way full from the picture. Did I notice that correctly? If your filter drops water down into your tank it will cause that. Maybe try raising the water level and the problem will self correct, but if the water level isn't low disregard this idea.

I raised the water level like you suggested and while the filter still makes a dent it is much smaller and something I can live with. Thanks for your help
