Hello all,

I am moving into my first home and would like to setup a bigger reef tank to move my fish to. I am looking at the Waterbox Marine X 90.3. I had looked at other tanks like the Cade Reef 900 S2 but the tank has a very deep dimension from front to back. I am concerned that the window near the tank could cause some light issues and wanted to get some opinions. I wanted to keep the tank in the living room for all guests to see and this is the only place possible in the room. If the placement really is an issue I could put it upstairs in the office if absolutely necessary but I would prefer not to.

Thanks in advance!

Depends on which way the window is facing on how much light is going to hit your tank.
You might have to install mini blinds or curtains.
Thanks, I meant to put the direction in the original post and forgot haha. It’s an interesting East facing window.

I think it will be ok. It will get morning light but that is not the same as afternoon light. And it is a reef tank so some natural light is not totally a bad thing. I like the placement myself.

Thank you all for your help! I plan to move forward with it in that spot once the room is painted and I finish the floor. I will add the build thread in here once I create one!

After a lot of research over the past few days, I think I am going to go with a UNS R90 Reef Tank. There aren't a ton of reviews out there but the build quality, attention to detail, and organization look fantastic. Seems like it would be very comparable to the Cade and fit much better in my space. It might be a challenge for me to get my hands on one though, as there isn't a retailer within a couple hours' drive of me.
