I wish I had started a build thread from my tank start but honestly didn’t join the forum until a few months in. So to make up I will attempt to post things that lead up to my tank today before showing what my tank is looking like now.

My 32 was started 8.21.19 so just 3 months and 2 days ago.

I will attempt to show from start to now and keep this thread updated.

so about the tank:

I bought it for 100 with live rock that had dried out a few days. It came with sand but to be safe I started fresh. Dumped all the sand and put 30lbs of new livesand.

After setup I added turbo 9000. Which after a few weeks I got a blue green chromis (after ammonia was 0). Just to let my system get stronger before adding anything more expensive.

About 2 months in I traded my chromis for a clown.

Between setup and the clown I had experienced my first seizures. At the time I was 24 and had never had a seizure. I had two a week apart. The first one I actually lost my voice and I had a 50/50 chance of it ever returning. Thankfully it did. After lots of doctors and rest still never found the cause. But my Instagram reef family checked on me daily. My buddy aquascapes actually sent me a package.

The package contained a frag rack and my first zoanthids for my tank. I was beyond excited and felt extremely blessed that someone would just send me this amazing stuff.

After all I was going through it was amazing to see the generosity of others and the love and care from the reef community. I still have my rough days but my tank is what I spend most of my time with. I can relax for hours and zone out into my little ocean which feels like home.

A little about me:
I’m 25, Autistic (aspergers), tattooed and super easy going. My income sucks so I get things piece by piece and I’ve been lucky enough that I’ve won a few things and been given a few things.

my next post will be my tank (attempting to only show from the start)

I'm really glad you're receiving lots of love and generosity from the reef community :) Looks like your tank is coming along nicely! And it seems like your cats are really enjoying your new tank lol
Best of luck! Keep the updates coming!

What else is on your wish list? I happen to have an Oceanic 29 and my son has a Coralife 32.

Lookin good man! I like that little tiger conch, such an alien ;Droid

I love my conch! He will crawl his way all the way to the top of the tank eating algae then just let go and float back to the bottom. I've even caught it eating algae off it's own back

I tried to buy a tiger conch, had it in the tank for 3 days wondering why it hadn’t moved yet. Turns out I purchased a shell for $5.99 lol

Get you a rock and glue some zoas to it, just keep it separate from your main structure because they will spread out as far as they can go
That’s where it gets hard.... choosing which zoa’s and finding a spot for it.
I do want a rock with mushrooms spreading across it

That’s the fun part! Coral shopping! I have mini zoas, mini acans, and green palys all on the same rock. They all grow fairly quickly, I’m glad I have them reasonably isolated. As far as mushrooms, some species are much faster growing than others. I have a ricordea that has only split once so far, which is great for my nano, but they don’t seem in danger of covering up a rock any time soon!
