I need help with my sump should I stay using filter floss on the top layer of the cups or should I replace the 1st cup with a filter sock(i’ve been hearing it was better). Or can I have a combination of filter floss for the first layer followed by cup 1 as a sock filter and the other cups as bio media and carbon.
If not, do I just keep it like the image

All advice would be helpful

(Picture below is not my tank, but it is how I have it currently)

I just use filter floss in both my cups, no more washing socks or rinsing out anything.

I think it depends on the state of your tank?
Do you feel you're getting enough filtration? Do you want to either wash filter socks or replace filter floss??
Kind of choose your own adventure based on your goals.
