Sump Overflow Protection - Advice Wanted

I did run into this problem. But it was because I added a side-by-side Fuge. And both drain into the same sump.I cannot put The tank in a larger container. Instead I put an overflow on the sump that ran into a tote beside it. Which works awesome for keeping the Overflow off of the floor.But both my design and the larger container have the same problem. Which is When the power comes back on your pump will run dry and burn out. Not as big of a problem as Overflow. But still stinks.

Ok, cool I made sure I had enough room in my sump from your LxWxH/231 formula (very nice BTW). My biggest concern is that if I have a power failure, my sump rises about 3 inches, and when my skimmer kicks back in, I'm afraid it might overflow for a little bit. Guess I need to do a mock power outage and see what happens (duh)

always a hood idea. I recommend everyone first setting up a sump to do a simple test setup in the garage and test this things out before flooding the living room.

I just wish I had done that. :mad:
