How hard is it to replace a sump ?
I created a refugium in a basket that I have rubble rock and chaeto in but I’d like a sump with an actual refugium area with room for my protein skimmer and a media reactor

Not hard at all if you can remove and replace the existing one.
This is how my current sump is connected. I bought it used and would need to redo the connections going into the sump. Any advice or tips on the best way to replumb it ?

Should be fairly easy to swap out/change plumbing. I would lose the metal hose clamps though, the rust will eventually make it into the water and that's a big no-no.

The tricky bit, as others have referenced, is getting the clearance needed to remove the old sump and install the new one without moving the stand. When I upgraded to a Trigger sump in my 60g, I had to drain the tank, move the stand, take out the old and replace with the Trigger, then plumb everything because it was a different configuration.
