I'm looking for opinions on the Synergy Shadow overflows. I have one that I purchased several years ago, but I've never used it, it's still new in the box. I believe it's a V2, and I think now they are up to a V3. When I bought it, I thought it was a pretty solid overflow, but since I've heard some negatives. What do you guys think?

I am considering purchasing a tank that is drilled for a Synergy Shadow overflow, which I thought was great because I already have the overflow. Is there any chance that another overflow, like Modular Marine, for example, would have the same hole pattern in that tank as the Synergy Shadow, and therefore would be interchangeable?

Thanks for your help!

Absolutely hated mine. Loud, impossible to silence, horrible design.

Thanks for your reply! Not what I wanted to hear, but that's what I was afraid of.

What do you recommend? What did you wind up running?

Thanks again for your help!

I lived with it for 2+ years before tearing the tank down.

When I looked into replacing it I saw a lot of people mention Modular Marine as a good choice. I never researched it much

Yeah Modular Marine is the alternative that I've been reading about. I don't think there'd be any chance the two overflows are interchangeable, but it would be great if they were.

He (modular marine) can make an overflow to fit the holes. He has done this before. He is doing this for me. The tank I ordered was drilled for synergy. I have a 1600 modular marine overflow for my current tank and love it. Very quiet

I was wondering this!!! I did see on his eBay page that he can do some customizations, so I was hoping that would be something they could do.

I see in your sig that you have a 150 on order. Could I just ask what tank you have that I assume was already drilled for the Synergy Overflow? I'm looking at a couple tank options including a 100 gallon acrylic tank from Glass Cages or Tenecor, but I can't get past this 150 gallon peninsula from SC Aquariums. If I can figure out how to get this tank into my house, and if I can get a quality overflow for it, this may just be my new tank:

You may have just made my decision on a new tank :)

And even if not, I just want to say that I reached out to Modular Marine through their eBay listing just tonight at like 9pm Eastern on a Saturday, and I got an immediate reply! I was told they absolutely can do this customization, and with that in mind, this may be my next tank......

I am getting the 150 SCA and using the MM overflow
Nice! I had been considering other options, but I think this SCA is the tank for me. It fits our space perfectly as a peninsula, and I've never run a peninsula before.

I reached out to MM via their website, which, understandably he'd rather talk there than eBay ;-) I'm waiting on a quote, but not in a hurry. I'm like 99% sure I want this tank.

Thanks again for your help!

I got mine custom made by modular marine. Just need to be good with a tape measurer when they tell you what measurements they need.

Thanks guys!!!!

I mean, I think this has made my decision!

I was considering other tanks, but knowing that Modular Marine can make an overflow that fits that SCA 150.......

My wife is already thinking of names for future fish and other livestock :)

Unless someone can really point out some huge flaw to these SCA tanks that are drilled for a solid overflow, I think this is our new tank. It just fits the space so well, and my wife is all for it :)

How many stupid happy emoji's can I put in one post lol :)

Thanks for your help everyone, I really appreciate it!!!

Thank you for your reply! Are you speaking of the MM overflow, or the SCA tank ;-)
