Long story short.. Iv been of moonshiners for a while, thought I was going to have to move out of state temporarily. I didn’t want to leave daily dosing and moonshine method to anybody looking after the tank.
so I switched to ESV B-ionic 2 part for simplicity, this also brought along water changes..

7 year old system, SPS dominant. Havnt had algae issues in years.

Now it’s out of control, I contribute to the swap In method cause there’s no indicator.

Parameters
Alk-9
Cal-430
Mag-1375
Ph- 8.2
No3- 8.0
Po4- 0.06
Temp- 78.6
Salinity 1.026

Sounds like your rodi might have let some stuff through… I don’t think anything else would have shocked the system or caused that.

I run 2 sediment filters, 3 carbon blocks, 3 High capacity resin blocks: and 2 membrane…. My Rodi isn’t the issue: … none of my parameters equal a source for such a massive outbreak. I’m at a loss

Might be some trace element was needed and water changes supplied it, or it might be coincidence.

For GHA and cyanos the trace element is most likely iron. ICP may not find iron in the water but GHA and cyanos also grow on precipitates. They may even get phosphate and iron from precipitates at the same time.
