Man, I gotta say. I'm loving it so far. I just wish that the corals had a tiny bit more pop to them though. I wonder if switching out one of the purples for an actinic would help... But in the end, the tank is even better.

All t5 bulbs have a mercury emission spike in the green range. It’s part of the territory. Because of that, there will be slight muting to fluorescence compared to blue LEDs. Removing the purple may help a little but it won’t be dramatic

Would adding cheap LED strips improve anything?
 
I don't think so. People add led strips to emulate what you already have with the t5.

Yes! I've run the marineland blue accents for years and it's noticable, and they look awesome before/after t5s. They put out almost no par. Just for looks. Reefbrite xho strips are 100x better though if you can afford one.
