Tailspot Blenny QT

I got a tailspot blenny 10 days ago and he’s been in my QT tank the whole time, what is he doing with his mouth in this video? He only does it near food, sometimes blowing it away, but I never clearly see food go into his mouth. Should I be concerned?

He’s in a 10-gallon QT with PraziPro. Ammonia is 0, temperature is 78°F, and salinity is 1.025.

This is a behavior often associated with flukes and I suggest treatment using PraziPro and dose at 85% of recommended and allow it to work for 7 days, change water and apply one more application lasting 7 days and do add an air stone as Prazi lowers both oxygen and appetite which may be the case or part of it

Sometimes gobies and Blennies “yawn” a lot when there’s low oxygen in the water (or when they’re warning off intruders but that doesn’t apply here). One of my gobies does this when I turn off the pumps and feed. I also add phyto at the same time and I think it lowers the oxygen temporarily.

But this seems excessive so vetteguy is probably right to be more concerned. Just thought I’d mention it in case you don’t have a lot of oxygenation going in this tank.

Make sure there is good aeration since you are using Prazipro. If you've dosed that properly, you can rule out gill flukes.

If it only does that when food is present, it is trying to blow the food away. Of course, that isn't good, because it should be eating it! What foods are you trying? Have you not seen it eat at all?

I believe I've seen something similar with a fish just being in an odd environment (i.e. it's kind of trying to fight you off). Additionally, it's possible (unless I read your comments incorrectly) that the fish has another protozoal disease - since you didn't do a copper QT. Additionally, your dose of prazipro should be re-checked incase you've given too little or too much. Good luck with the fish.
