Tang Harem

No good answer unfortunately. Until a few weeks ago the obvious answer would have been a group of yellows. That’s now cost prohibitive. Scopas would be an option, though I personally find them rather drab. A couple of folks have tried a group of convict, largely without success. They’re tough to acclimate and usually come in emaciated. Group of Hepatus would be cool. Don’t recall anyone having tried that.

Drab? Mine is gorgeous!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That’s why I said that I personally find them drab. It’s the only zebrasoma species I don’t have.

I like the drab of a scopas. Would love two find 3 yellow scopas and see if they can coexist.

You’re not helping ...... I’ve already got to add another tank to my system to house a few tangs that won’t ‘fit’ in the 450. Not so much space as homicidal tenants.

I have a 530g tank and want to try a tang harem tank.

What would be your tang?
Although it is harder to find captive bred with the spike in demand, multiple yellow tangs would be cool if you could get them to shoal. They may stick together if it's a long tank. It's really cool when they do. You'll also have less issues if they come from the same batch captive bred. They're had to come by and cost, but hopefully at some point the demand continues more mass breeding. The newer captive breeds have been looking much nicer then earlier release.

You should just ask your LFS if they come across a big scopas that has outgrown their tanks. You would like it. Then time will tell if and when you get one

LEAVE IT TO CHANCE!

I thought about it and I’m going to narrow it down. Scopas and yellow tangs or Tomini Bristletooth tangs about 7-9
