Ok so I got a baby sailfin yesterday. She is the only fish in the tank right now. She is doing great. Eating pellets and picking at the rocks. My question is she will not leave one side of the tank. She swims from behind a rock eats and pick at the rock only on the one side. I mean she does not move more then a couple inches away from that corner. Is she nervous cause she is the only one in the tank? Do I need to get a couple more fish to get her out and about? Or is it cause she has only been in the tank for a day now?

Just a new fish not used to the tank yet. My baby naso did the same thing and there were other fish in the tank. After about a week he now waits for me to get home and feed him. He will even let me pick him up when I'm feeding the tank. It's really weird.

That is what I was thinking. Would getting a pair of clowns stress her out or should I add them soon before she claims the tank as her own. The tank is not new so I am not worried about the bio load. The tank was upgraded 5 months ago from my smaller tank that was 2 years old. I put my other set of clowns in my 125 fish only so the tank has been sitting fishless.

You could always add a group of chromis. They are cheap and if you want to get rid of them down the road it's not biggie. I've read all over the place that they help skittish fish feel more comfortable in tanks.

Make sure if you get some chromis you really want them! They're fast little buggers and almost impossible to catch in my experience!

I've personally never had good luck with clowns. I've had 2 pairs and both were very aggressive towards the other inhabitants in the tank. In fact I've got a beautiful black/white one that needs an awesome home. lol
