I am in the process of building a 84" x 24" tank and looking to get some tang. I want a lavender, naso, and I have a tomini that will go in as well. I have a yellow now but thinking may leave it in tank it is in now. Tank mates will be a magnificent, orchid dotty back, tanaka pygmy wrasse, bangaii cardinal pair, pajama cardinal, clownfish, bellus angel pair hopefully, and there will be more additions in the future. I want a good mix and some attitude but not to the point it causes problems. What would you guys recommend? Of course all these will go through QT to be sure healthy.

A Fowleri Tang. They are gorgeous and usually docile when compared to tangs like Powder Blues. They get large but a 7ft tank should be adequate.

Purple Tang (if no Yellow Tang) - Or add together and cross your fingers
Mimic Lemonpeel Tang
Chevron or Yellow Eye Tang
Desjardini Sailfin Tang

I agree with all of these, also convict tang would work.

Not in my experience... I've had two of them over the years and they were both in tanks that were definitely on the small side. Everybody seemed to get along ok regardless.

The half a dozen I have had in tanks all presented problems toward other tangs.

I agree desjarini Sailfin, purple, chevron are my votes

So I guess it's a crap shoot one way or the other then, no?

Do you have any pictures btw? This is probably my favorite fish so it's always nice to see some photos. I really like those Sohol tangs too though..

So how many would you recommend for a tank that size? Then i can pick. LOL
As many as you want so long as you have ample filtration and they get along. I always have more tangs than I probably should...

Thanks guys, now just to decide which ones I want. They will most likely be the last additions. Hope to get all small.
