Tangs with like scabs?

if i got a microscope and got a photo of it would you be able to identify based on the microscope scrape?

Possibly, but that can also help rule things out. You don’t want a high power scope, something about 80x power is best. With that you can diagnose protozoans or flukes. If you can’t see that, then the choices would be bacterial or jus mucus.

Okay, in your opinion do you think that it could be turfs/nodules? or what do you think it might be?

I went back and reread the thread. I saw at one point you mentioned that the tang was rubbing against the PVC. Then, later on, the question was posed if the fish were scratching/flashing and I didn't you see you answer that. Again, to try and narrow the diagnosis here - have you seen the fish scratch, flash or twitch? Even doing that once or twice a day can be a sign of flukes.

If they haven't done any of that, then I would treat with a broad spectrum,. gram negative antibiotic like Neoplex or Kanaplex. However, as discussed, getting good antibiotics in Canada is tough.

I see HLLE with some secondary problem probably Bacterial. Does the fish have these raised cones on both sides? I would check your RODI System.

i dosed kanaplex 8 times.

This has nothing to do with HLLE but I am suspecting Flukes here in lieu of mucus cones as originally suspected. If fish is not breathing heavy, attempt a 5 minute freshwater dip with air stone added and see if there is evidence of flatworms or what looks like fish scales.

No just his one side is effected?....

That's the weird thing here, it's only on its right side, NO spots on the left? I can't account for that at all; protozoans, flukes and HLLE, the three most likely differentials here are almost never seen on just one side of a fish, they are spread randomly on a fish's body (I did have one case where a fish showed HLLE on just one side).

Then, it didn't respond to a full kanaplex treatment?

Vette, I agree this condition is not HLLE, however I do see a mild case along the Lateral Line and behind the Eye.
Flukes is a possibility, however very strange that only one side of his fish is affected and shows these visible mucus cones.

Jay just a thought, Tangs love to wedge into and between things. It's only on one side, and they are in QT and if he has a large heater? I still say there is very minor HLLE also. I see pits on the line.

Also I dont see this as heater burn and having 26 tangs, cant agree they wedge themselves in structures but do have selected hiding areas and if it were injury from rock would have shown raw flesh injury opposed to a scab.

The right side has a few specs but the right side is blown up... i did 2 5g tubes of kanaplex ~8 doses aprox and nothing...... fw dip didnt show anything. although i saw like micro slugs it almost looked like but i dont know if that was off the fish or from the net..

maybe i have a new hybrid ilness?. who knows i sent a swab off to the vet at polo and waiting to hear back.
