Tank Additions Opinions Needed

So I had to back off my new Tank build for a bit because my budget is blown. I found I had a lot of time to ask questions read articles and find more ways to spend money. I started out , and will still finish my intended minimalist build to prove to others that its possible to do. Keep in mind when you read the following that this is a Fresh Water Tank conversion , using Canister Filter/ Filters.

So far I started by investigating the addition of a UV light with the intent of having a set up that can have the flow switched to fight Algae and Parasite " control ". a Skimmer either repair my existing HOB , or buy an in Sump which I will explain later. A reverse flow gravel filter using the canister filter water flow to run ( a video I happened upon by accident ), an Oxydator a device used by adding Peroxide to it reccommended 9 % by a member , with the sole purpose of adding O2 to the water. The big endevor is to add a small sump just for an Algae scrubber , and to accomadate as mentioned an in sump Skimmer. So a HOB overflow box needed , plumbing , and a return pump needed. So one question is what size pump required if 5 feet of lift required to do this?
The big question is what if any will defeat the purpose of adding one thing that may cancel the other ?
 
The pump size should be determined by how big the aquarium will be and how much flow you want to accomplish (turn over rate). I like the Varios pumps, they are dead quiet and longlasting. All pumps should list their pressure reduction at different heights.

Its only to return water after the skimmer , and algae scrubber do their jobs turn over I don't think is a big factor flow definitely not important as a control or removal tool . I don't think at this point , may change is a 75 will have at least one Canister a Marineland water polisher for now. May add a power head to move surface water. More concerned about whether I am cancelling out some of the benefits but thanks for answering the first question
 
Oxydator is for adding oxidation potential more than breathing oxygen in a reef tank. There are a few discussion about Oxydators on here,

The protein skimmer works great for atmospheric oxygen for respiration and for keeping pH up if the skimmer is drawing air from outside of the dwelling and not from inside of a occupied space.

A skimmer connected with outdoor air intake can be enough for most reefing purposes without the Oxydator.

Thanks that is the type of stuff I want to hear. I was looking at making an algae scrubber. With my set up being a straight up tank that would entail buying a HOB overflow box $ 150 , plumbing , a sump , around $ 50 , and a return pump ? Plus the cost of making the box with 2 lights making sure some how not to let lights get wet. I also want to add a UV so this is the thing will a UV be counter productive to all of that ? So these ideas on the list I need to know if that type of thing exists

I read the article it raised a lot of questions as they were trying to decide how to use them. I have asked questions even though the thread is old, We will see. Thanks for the link. I don't know what you mean by O2 potential though. How do you connect a skimmer to outside air without others ( you know what I mean ) going crazy ?
 
People run a pipe or an airline tube outside (drill a hole or something) and draw in atmosphere.
 
I'd hold off on the UV if you're going minimalist, might not be needed and can be added later.

An Oxydator does much more than just add oxygen.
