Tank assembly q's

So how clean do the edges on a glass panel have to be? I took apart a tank and am going to re use the glass. I have scraped and acetoned the glass edges. But it still feels like theres a thin layer of sillicone on the edges. Will it have to be spotless and totally clean ? Dont want the tank to fail!

Also if theres SMALL chips on the edge will it be ok? Nothing huge. I figured the sillicone will hold if threse small imperfections. And the seal on the inside has to have some kind of holding power. Am i wrong ?

It needs to be 100% clean of all silicon. The chips should not matter however.

Ok looks like ill have to get some 3m Pads and a container of elbowgrease lol
