How amazing to have had a tank for such a long part of your life.
I am just starting, and can only hope that I am blessed with many years of enjoyment watching the development of my new tank hopefully over many years to come ---such as your own.

Thank you for sharing

Thanks guys. She is actually worse this morning, if that is even possible. I just got the steroids the surgeon prescribed. He said he sent it in yesterday but when I went to the drug store, they had no idea what I was talkng about.

I called the doctor who of course is in surgery so I had to jump through the phone to get him to re=send the drugs.

I finally got them. Mostly steroids. I almost took her to the hospital today but they would not know what to do about this as it is an obscure disability and being it is a week after the ryzomoty , they won't have a clue..

She just took it so I will see what happens. Of course it's Friday so if it gets worse, I can't get him. I feel like blowing my brains out as I can't stand seeing her in this much pain

Is it possible they only damaged the nerve and didnt kill it? I feel so bad for both of you. Nerve pain of any kind is miserable, i cant imagine what it would be like in facial areas and seeing someone you love in pain and cant help is tough too!

They can't kill that nerve. It controls most of your face, including your tongue, jaw, and all your facial muscles.

They were only supposed to partially burn it.

What is Trigeminal Neuralgia

The Trigeminal Nerve is one of 12 pairs of cranial nerves that emerge from the brain. This nerve allows you to feel facial sensations. Each nerve that runs on either side of the face is further divided into three branches, which control sensations in different areas of your face.

  1. The Ophthalmic branch: Deals with sensations in your eyes and forehead.
  2. The Maxillary branch: Associated with sensations in your lower eyelid, cheek, nostril, top lip, and gum.
  3. The Mandibular branch: Transmits sensations of your jaw, lower lip, lower gum, and some muscles used for masticulation.
Trigeminal Neuralgia Meaning nerve pain can occur in any of these three branches, causing pain, tingling, or tenderness on your forehead, in your ears, in your eyes (you feel it most above your eyes), in your jaws, and at the base of your neck.

Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain disorder characterized by intense, electric shock-like pain in the face, typically affecting one side. It occurs due to irritation or damage to the trigeminal nerve, which is responsible for sensation in the face. Common symptoms include sudden, severe facial pain triggered by activities like chewing or touching the face. Treatment options range from medications, such as anticonvulsants, to surgical procedures aimed at relieving pressure on the nerve.

So hopefully when the swelling is all gone the nerve pain will go away too. I dont know if a nerve sheath can swell but surrounding tissue will. I guess i am back where i started, hoping she gets some relief soon! About 24 years ago i killed the nerve in my ankle at the end of my tibia in a motorcycle racing accident and my whole foot was dead. The nerve grew back completely over an 18 month period and as that happened my symptoms were similar but in my foot which isnt as sensitive. I cant imagine how much more painful that would have been in a place as sensitive as my face.

I feel for you and Dale I hope some relief comes soon.

Many years ago someone cut my arm just above the wrist to the bone damaging nerves going to my hand. I remember that being very unpleasant during the healing process and for quite a while afterward. Sometimes when its very cold and that area is exposed it still hurts.

The problem is MS doesn't heal. It never gets better. Her pain is still there and no less than when it started. It is very hard to live like this, especially with no hope.

don't know if she is any better today as she is still sleeping but she just wants to die. I think I would too.

This is a crying shame and I feel for you both. Everybody has a right to be free of pain. Easier said than done obviously. One can only pray Dale's pain will ease, hopefully sooner than later.

Having a family member let alone a spouse afflicted with a never ending condition is just brutal, been there. Please remember to get some support for yourself. Caregivers are vital for the patient but often neglect themselves. You are an example of everything a spouse should be. My prayers are with you both.
