I hope all goes well with your planned move and you get that new tank set up to your specs. I'm sure it will turn out OK even without the glass mulm. That's one thing that will always grow back, mulm. :D

Looks like you had fun showing your steampunk stuff. All of them, especially the fish, are fantastic! Were you interviewed this time? If so, how did that go?

Rybren, sorry to hear about your supermodel, albeit 2 years later, and also your depressing day. She was quite pretty. I'm sure that she gave you years of love that enable you to enjoy those memories, and keep you happy. I can't imagine being without mine. My heart goes out to you.

So I went to my neurologist friend yesterday and he doesn't think it is my back. Or my front, he thinks it's my sides. Well that doesn't leave much else I mean if it isn't your back and if it isn't your front, it must be your sides.
He thinks I may have a bunch of cracked ribs. I don't think so but being I don't have an arrow sticking out of my head or a cro bar sticking out of my back and I don't remember being pried out from between subway wheels, I have no idea why I can't hardly move. He also thinks I may have to go to a Dr. for arthritis, I forgot what you call them. I call them a Supermodel Doctor because the one I know could be on the cover of Sports Illustrated, so I hope I have arthritis. So far we know I don't have the arrow thing and they all agree I have stress fractures all over my backbone but he said that is from carrying heavy things all my life and most construction workers get that unless you were a snowflake or a Girly Man.

So they did all the doctor things and I had to go for blood tests to see if I had blood instead of seawater, then I had rib X Rays, I guess to see if I also have ribs. I went for lung X Rays and I am sorry I am sucking all the money out of Medicare so there may not be any left when you Noobs get here.
The Dr's will get al the tests back in a couple of days and I will see if I will live so I can take my tank with me or if I will sleep with my fish.

Just now I bought 3 striped cardinals which was stupid because now I have 3 more fish to move and this move is going to be a horror.

Paul, I'm sorry your back/front/side issues aren't getting better.

Instead of carrying heavy things you should get a caddie to carry your clubs for you. I would bet the motion of the golf swing would be great for stretching your sides out. Think of it as physical therapy, not golf! ;)

Right now I could swing a golf club, but only once. Then you would have to call the ambulance. (of course I hate golf, silly game)
Actually, as the day goes on I feel better but need two or three Supermodels to carry me out of bed in the morning. All my life I was in excellent shape and I know this will pass. Either that or I will get a rib/backbone replacement

In the meantime If anybody wants this giant fern free, let me know. If I move, and it looks like I will, I need to move this fern which is in a 15 gallon tub. It will die in the winter and needs to be brought inside. I don't have the room in my new house but I kept it inside my house during the last 3 winters. It seems to like indoors better as it needs shade or the tips of the leaves burn. It is about 6' high and 7' wide. I also have another palm looking thing with the same problems.

Hmmm...well, keep us posted, Paul, both on your health and the potential move. I know my hubby hates it when he's in pain--not because he's a sissy or a silly snowflake, but because he's so used to doing everything for himself. You manly men are so self-sufficient! Do take care of yourself, though, and try to listen to what the doctors tell you!

Thank you Beth. Last night I "almost" had to call a sissy ambulance as the pain was so high that I thought I may be a snowflake. But a bunch of pain pills and Grand Marnier in combination with some pills my Dr. gave me set me straight and I am still a Manly man. We here on Long Island are surrounded by some of the best hospitals in the world. I could almost walk to 4 of them. The problem with them is that if you go to an emergency room, or even if they pry you out from under a school bus that ran you over, then put it in reverse and ran you over again then the driver in the process of opening the door crushed your skull, you would still sit in the emergency room for 15 or 16 hours while they are on the phone with your insurance company before they give you an aspirin.

Now that must have been BAD pain! Sounds like the advice you've been given is right--something will have to be done about your back. Not fun at all. Your comments about the wait in the ER made me laugh--if it's really that bad, "regular" incidents don't stand a chance!

It is really that bad. I too my wife last year and we waited 16 hours in the ER. These hospitals here are huge but I never seen so much in-efficiency. I know they are busy but this is ridiculous. There was this poor very old guy there on a gurney who was in a car accident and obviously hit the windshield. He was bleeding all over the place and he was there about 10 hours, still on the stretcher from the ambulance. He was still on that thing when we left.
If anyone needs to move, don't move to New York if you need a hospital, unless you have an arrow sticking out of your head.
My pain in my back and ribs gets bad at night and in the morning, but gets much better during the day, of if I get close to Supermodels. Now they are sending me to a rheumatologist, I imagine to see if I am allergic to rooms.

I just gave away a 30' extension ladder for the move that I think is 95% certain we are doing. Now I have a bunch of tools and other things to unload as I can't bring almost any of this to the new condo. If anyone needs older car tools like timing lights, dwell meters, compression gages, ring compressors, cylinder hones, flexible dwell adjusters and long point adjusters, I will give them to you for free as I will not be using them. I was a GM Mechanic fifty years ago so I have tools for those cars as well as new cars but most of them I will keep for now.

I priced a 125 gallon tank but I think I will build the new stand. I don't like those Girly Man iron stands they sell to people who don't know any better. I also want to build a base rock that will span the 6' width of the tank and keep my reef structure off the gravel. Hopefully it will only touch the gravel in 6 places. I have been wanting to do that for many years but couldn't do it on a fully functioning reef. If I move everything I will first set up a tank in the new location which is 55 miles away. I plan to fill it half way with NSW from up the block. Then I will drive to this house and remove half the rock and some of the gravel and water. Drive out there and put that stuff in to get the bacteria going. Then make another trip, maybe with a friend who has another car and bring the rest of the rock, gravel and livestock. I will wash my gravel in NSW and put it in on my new Reverse UG filter.
I don't know if that new tank will use a sump as I have not decided on that yet.
I will bring my existing, water cooled LED lights but I will have to solder in another row of LEDs as the new tank is 6" wider. That is going to be a problem because I have to remove a few LEDs to solder on new pipe.
I will also bring my DIY, 5' Skimmer and algae trough. The algae trough is mainly for dissipating the ozone after the skimmer.
This is the plan anyway. If it works out like that depends on if I can keep this house a little while as I move to the new place.
This may be in February and that room the tank will be in is not heated and I will have to add heat at the same time I install the tank .

Oh and my male flasher wrasse jumped out this morning. I will give up on those because I lost 3 of them so far from jumping. As they get into spawning mode, they are so excited, that they jump for joy. :D

Might be time for another DIY project Paul a net to stop those naughty fish surfing

That would be difficult on my tank. remember I have no sump and I have a HOB skimmer as well as a 5' algae trough at the top of the tank along with an algae scrubber screen suspended over the tank . There is also a manifold over the water for the reverse UG filter. I will try to limit the holes in the new tank so maybe I can add something for the jumping problem.

I am going to start building the stand for the new tank soon as I need the stand as soon as the tank is delivered. Of course right now the new place isn't even built yet except for the foundation so I doubt they will let me put it in.

I am sure I will be needing help when I move this stuff. Especially the livestock as it will be winter and I have to wash off my gravel in NSW which is right near there.

I am not sure I have enough buckets, and strength to move all this stuff and keep it warm at the same time, but I will start figuring out my method of doing this.

I am all excited because I found a LFS not far from where I am moving and they have live blackworms. That is great news because I don't think I would want to keep my tank with out the worms. Now I know I can bring my worm tank out there. :D

I'd offer to help, but I will be golfing! :p

If this goes as planned, (not likely) After I empty out my existing tank I will scrape off all the mulm growing on the sides and back to add to my new tank and under my UG filter. I can't wait to see what is growing under there and I will also be bringing whatever that stuff is. I will try to eliminate the larger bristle worms, the 2 foot ones with the antlers and Godzilla larvae. I will have to break off all my montipora and try to get most of the rest of the corals and sponges out. I am sure I will lose some, or maybe even all my corals as the lights may not be functioning correctly for a while as I build stuff. It all depends on if I can keep this house for a few days after I own that house. If I have to move out of here before that place is finished, I don't think the tank can stay running as I will have no place to transfer the livestock and rocks.
