Tank Breakdown

Hello all, I am going to breakdown my existing tank in anticipation of my new 40 gal. I currently have a 29 gal and in order to break it down I'm going to need to house my corals, 3 fish and 3 shrimp in a holding tank while the old tank is removed, the process will I'm guessing take anywhere from 1 to 2 months. The length of time is because I'm buying new LS and LR and I want to make sure all is well before I re add my corals. I bought a Coralife T5 HO light fixture for lighting, an Azoo Filter/Skimmer, a power head and heater, I'm also using my old AquaC Nano Remora Skimmer, and the tank is a Mr. Tank 17 gal. I will not be using any Sand in my holding tank, just a few pieces of LR from my existing tank. In your opinions, will my livestock survive the new setup as a temporary measure until the new tank is ready to go?

Nothing good in this hobby happens fast, even answers lol. As long as your temp tank setup is pretty close to your display setup things will prob be fine. Does that help? What did they tell on the other forum?

I would seed the new tank with a least a few pieces of live rock from you old tank to help things along. Some MB7 wouldn't hurt either.

What are you using for lighting and flow in the temp tank in comparison to the old tank? You are going to be changing the conditions that the corals are in so expect a few to be stressed. It happened to me when I switched tanks and my corals were only in the temp tank for two days. I would use the water from your old tank in the temp tank also.

Thx for the responses. I am using a few rocks from my old tank, temp is the same, the flow in my old tank was thru an ES mp10, in the temp tank, I'm using a korallia pump, I have the Coralife HO T5 24"x2 lighting with one 10k and 1 actinic bulb. In my old tank, it was lit with 30 LEDs running at about 10 to 20% power, they were bright, lol, I'm already missing the color pop. The only thing in this temp tank that I do not have is my chaeto, but I will make a container and place the chaeto inside. I used probabbly 8 gal of new saltmix at 1.025 sg, and probabbly 8 gal from my old tank, I didn't want to use more due to an issue I had which was the main reason for this breakdown and decision for the new tank. I used some old epoxy, 5 to 6 yrs old. Omg I know. Stupid. But, some of my corals that were no looking so great, even only after about 1 to 2 hrs in the new temp tank are trying to feed and look better already.
PS: what is MB7?

If they started to look better already then I'd say you're doing something right. In addition to what you've already done idsay justtry to keep your params stable. A swing now would probably be worse. It's like aclimating all yourcorals at once. Justwatch them, you may have move some stuff around to keep it happy.

MB7 is microbactor 7 by brightwell. Its used to increase the diversity of bacteria in your tank and help control nitrates and phosphates. It's often used with vodka dosing. There is a write up, in think in the sps section, by sunnyx, you should check it out.
