Tank build questions

I'm not done with the build just making sure everything is ok before i put the tank upstairs. Just dry fitting everything and need to get a few more things like check valves and things of that nature. So once i get a gate valve would this quieten up. Also should I remove this cone type filter. I don't think any fish can go thru this.

It appears that you have two drain pipes. You may want to check out the details for a standard setup for the herbie overflow configuration on the following link:

The water height in the overflow should be above the primary drain (although the strainer is recommended by some it is not required), but below the top of the secondary/emergency drain. The main drain should have the gate valve to control the water height in the overflow box.

Yes! Although my strainer is on the bottom like yours. If your running a DC adjustable pump you have to adjust your gate valve at each power setting. Do get a gate valve, a Ball valve, while only 1/10 the cost will not cut it and is not worth the frustration.

I will be getting a gate valve for more precision. And getting a check valve for the return also.

So it's alot quieter i think once i put filter cups and couple things it should quiet down even more
