Saw that video too. What's crazy is WWC just did a video on his system like a month ago. Sucks for him. I've lost several frags recently and I am feeling the pain from just that. Can't imagine how a whole tank full of big colonies and all the fish would feel.

Very sad. I do appreciate the fact that he shared this on his channel and was honest instead of spewing a bunch of nonsense or worse yet pretending it didn't happen. To often I think YouTubers only share what they want people to see and even then I have my doubts about some of the content.

I'm happy he did not poison himself. In several videos it looks like there was a massive infestation of palythoa, to me they appear as P.toxica (these were referred as "minty zoas"). Would be interesting to see the Organo-MS results.

This is probably the key to what happened. The tank crash happened during the middle of a tank move. Seems likely that the palys did not respond well to the transfer and ended up poisoning the temporary holding bin. I don’t think there are many other coral that could take out a system full of livestock so quickly.

I recently found some play hitchhikers on some ocean live rock I ordered. I immediately pull those rocks out and scraped off the palys. I am paranoid and did not want to deal with any possibility of play toxins down the road.

That’s horrible. I had a similar experience here recently, but it wasn’t this severe. I went from a 9 gallon to a 25 gallon and had a hair algae and cyano explosion. Sometimes weird stuff happens. I am fighting through it and have lost around 10% of my corals and one tiger goby.

Brutal, love how honest he was in the video though. I’ve never experienced a tank crash. Would be heartbreaking since I go all in with every tank.

Agreed. His transparent honesty about the skimmer restored a little bit of my faith in YouTubers. He took total blame in my opinion.
