Tank pricing!?

I have a Redsea 900 3XL for sale and I am having trouble selling it. It doesn’t leak barely any visible scratches and selling for 2500. No takers. I feel like it’s a steal for this tank but is it priced too high or is there just a small market for this big of a tank?

Most people these days won't touch a) a Red Sea tank; or b) a used tank. Those two combined is, IMO, the issue.

It doesn’t leak...

Will it though? Worse yet, will it have a catastrophic seam failure?

I wouldn't touch that tank with a 10' pole.

unfortunately it is true, due to multiple documented instances of serious failures with red sea tanks (and the sub-par support provided by red sea as a "high end" vendor in the hobby). As a red sea tank owner myself, I wouldn't buy another, even new. I learned of the issues after buying mine from LFS in 2023. Perhaps try lowering the price? Sorry :(

Unfortunately aquarium equipment doesn't have good resale value unless you get lucky and have exactly what someone is looking for. I saw someone else ask how much something was worth and a top answer was, "whatever you think it's worth, divide by 5."

I am always looking for large used glass tanks, but the only brand I'll buy is Oceanic. And only if none of the glass is chipped.

Keep hoping to find another 300g :)

Probable the current fear of Red Sea tanks is holding people back.

Also probably the hardest time to sell. Right after Christmas everyone is still in shock from holiday spending.

You'll need to find someone who isn't aware of the redsea seam failures. I have two redsea tanks but I wouldn't touch a used one, especially one of the larger tanks which have more reported failures.

sorry for you! as someone who keeps an eye open for used tanks, ill have to say that if i see its a red sea, i skip over it. if you really want to get rid of it, yeah maybe try dropping the price more? who knows. maybe youll get lucky and find a buyer! wishing you sucess!

Not to kick you while you're down, but I agree with the majority above. I recently purchased a used IM tank. In my search I didn't even consider a Red Sea even if the price was "too good to pass up". Simply not worth the risk with the seemingly never ending seam failures.

I was interested in it until I did more research. It has been said that on top of Red Sea using a stand that has too little support in the front middle, they are also using an inferior chalking. I would only be interested in a Red Sea tank to deconstruct and reassemble with the proper chalking and overhaul the stand for better support. dang shame when a company that charges top tier prices doesn't use top quality products to assemble their goods. I doubt you would want to part with the tank for fraction of you were asking for it.
