Wasn't sure where to put this but figured I should add it here. Everyone love pics so I'll post as many as I can we seem to be changing stuff weekly! Guess I should include some sort of story or it'll get boring and since there are pics to go with it hope you enjoy. So the corner I put our tank in got the walls stained, sanded, painted, stained, and sanded again and it came out nice I think. Although I did get some unfair heckles from he wife during the process! First picture is the tank all set up it ran for a week or so with just water. Didn't even have lights at first, just didn't want leaks and my rock was still soaking in containers at the time. Few weeks later rock and sand went in and then of course it sat for a few more weeks, though it seriously caused me pain waiting! As a side note I put the "beneficial bacteria" bottle in almost as soon as the tank was full. For the sand I went with one bag of the mixed in black sand just to be different, and added the sand after setting rock up Possibly using way to much epoxy on the bridge section haha. Most of my equipment is jebao and everything is D.C. I like the controllability and lower cost. Plumbed everything with lots of unions and incorporated a tee with a drain valve for water changes. It drains through the valve into buckets as my 10 gallon reservoir pumps in, so there is no water level drop in the tank. As a side note I wired straight to the panel and put a 4gang box in for outlets strictly for the tank. We are Using grape algae for the refugium which is getting changed out, just not liking how fast it's spreading and looks ultra messy! And to make things interesting for the kids I'm going with all juvenile fish as available so we can watch the growth together! My youngest loves the fact that the diamond back goby eats sand:). The cycle in the tank actually happened a bit backwards maybe the bacterias fault I'm not sure week three I had huge spikes all week. Week four we saw diatoms, then some hair algae as diatoms disappeared and cleanup crew got added. Since I saw 2 weeks of not a single level peaking I added a pair of clowns and a pair of chromies. They have done really well. Couple weeks later I added a juvenile yellow eye, few pieces of coral, and a starry blenny! All my parameters are stable and I let the LFS test it as well to be sure this week. And here we are today. Hope I didn't draw it out to badly.......

Thanks! It's a. 90 gallon oceanic tank got it used sight unseen for 200 though it's scratched inside the glass it was a perfect starter tank. I bought over sized equipment with the intention of going bigger when I have some experience. Though in hind sight had i read some posts here first I'd of gone 120 to start.

So I have this idea I've been working on it's not done yet but I have purchased the tank gonna drill it this weekend. So my tank sets on an angle in a corner making tons of room behind it. The basic idea is to build a stand behind the tank for 20 gallon long tank to sit above the sump so its viewable easily. I want to use my existing return pump with a valve to adjust flow to pump water through it which would return to the existing sump. Adding rock to it but no sand. The idea is when not in use it functions as another sump but when I purchase fish I can shut the valves for supply and return to DT and use it as a QT. Having DT tank water in it would make it ideal for this would it not? With its own heater and hang on filter this would be a good idea I think. When QT is over I dump the water into the drain wait a few weeks then fill back up with DT water and start over! So is this a good idea or to risky since it would be attached to my DT? If the at idea is out I'm probably just gonna use it for the secondary sump idea and cram it full of rock.

Some new additions to the tank finally stable and ready to fill up with coral. Unsure what the red coral is to be honest but I got an amazing deal so couldn't pass it up.
