I am having to do a tank swap due to a bad seam. I just had shoulder surgery so I am having to have a local company do it. They are telling me to use new sand, which I'm fine with, but they are also telling me 100% new water.
Thoughts please and thanks.

You can see on page one, to not prep rinse your sand is a huge risk, but to pre rinse it does a million dollars + in tank transfers without loss. Hard work but consistent safety we see.

It's OK to use current water or 80% current water as long as you're not under invasion

New water is best for everyone if cost isn't a factor. Have it prepped and mixed and heated and circulated for gas balancing ahead of time.

Hey agreed that’s a perfect rinse transfer it’s so clean :)

The main benefit of the rinse is that you de-aged your tank. Made it very unlikely to get invasions now

Lots of movers here are told to skip the rinse prep, it's seen as dangerous to many cycle coaches. Those tanks often relocate just fine but if we track out the systems a few months after install they're battling dinos or cyano

There's no other practical time you'd be able to disassembly clean the system, which is the number one way to add lifespan to a reef system/ ejecting 100% of stored waste
