Is there a better way to tear a tank down??? I'm doing my 75g dt cause it's yeah right there. But look at this mess and the stench omg. Muriatic acid does not help stench. And there's still a sump in the basement...40g of pure foulness...

When I'm tearing down tank I get the water level as low as possible with a Sicce Ultra Zero pump and then use a clean sponge (like a car cleaning sponge) to get the remainder of the water out of the tank. Be very careful with Muratic acid anywhere and strongly recommended to not use indoors.

After the first house exploded, I've learned to be careful. But then again my laboratory wasn't exactly up to snuff. Took the cops awhile to clean it up. Yeah a pump is better.

I agree, you definitely don't want to directly breathe the acid fumes. That can cause some serious damage to your lungs.

Why not vinegar instead?

Citric acid is far safer and will do a solid job with many clean up projects including pumps, tank walls, sumps, etc.

Still alive and after the DA dropped the ball, well it's old news. But anyways.
I did both 4 gallons of vinegar and idk a gallon of muriatic acid. That was to decalcify the tank.

I wish my eyes weren't burning so much, or nose bleeding. But oh well.
