It may be one of the very few shows on AP I watch. I'm sick and tired of their "gotcha" tv.

AP has gone way down hill since Steve Irwin passed away.

Have any of you seen their tips for new reefers page?

They said that by far the most popular bulb of choice for corals is fluorescent bulbs.
TRUTH: in a survey of 9000 reefers, 53.8%; said they use LED's as a major source of light and 45.6% said they use T5.

They also said "you need 4 to 6 watts per gallon".
TRUTH: this is an outdated rule of thumb.

They also said the corals that use photosynthesis are either dark brown or dark green.
TRUTH: ...

They talk about Metal Halide bulbs releasing a bunch of UV rays and killing corals
TRUTH: in reality UV rays are contained and do not reach the corals

I am not saying that your friend is ill informed but whoever wrote that page should have a stern talking to. Many people will jump into the hobby because of the show and be totally ill informed. I hope they have that page rewritten.

So Dish Network show's it is airing tonight but I don't get Animal Planet. In order to get it I have to sign up for a new package that is $15 more a month... Not gonna happen just to watch one show.

This show is worse than I thought it was going to be. But it looks like they have everyone else do their building for them anyways.

Just filled a brand new tank with some pretty sensitive specimens. They build or should I say their employees build amazings aquariums but as far as aquarium husbandry you would be better off getting your info from petsmarts staff and we all know how bad they are

Think about having to access the filtration system for that car tank on a weekly basis.

The quarantine system was beautiful but again not realistic in the long run. Fish are naturally skittish and with nowhere to hide they stress out and are susceptible to disease and parasites which they carry

With all that being said, the show was entertaining and any exposure for the aquarium industry can't hurt

I can say one thing, the rock work on a lot of those tanks were awesome. I am reconsidering some rock work in my 180.

I enjoyed the show very much and were not going to call anyone names here. There are tons of stuff you didn't see that probably would have told you a different story. Did you see what was in the sump of the QT system? No it did not show. Might have been established live rock and aged water.

I think it was great. I commend these guys for taking the customers vision and turning it into a reality. That's really what the show is about, and these guys are able to do it and make a profit, living and business out of it.

Oh yeah....DONT HATE. If you think you can do it better, then do it

I enjoyed this alot, it shows alot of what the vendors have to do to make their coustomers happy. I enjoyed it!
