Ok I've got a 36 gallon mixed reef. I've got my controller set at 78.0 so it ranges from 77.9 to 78.1 which isn't bad but now that I have a sump I noticed the light I'm using in the sump is raising my temp. It is a clamp on desk lamp with a 100watt equivalent compact fluorescent bulb one of the spiral bulbs you know...

The temp is getting up to 78.4 or 78.5 by then end of the day

I'm using leds on the display so I'm pretty sure it's the sump light doing it.

It's a half degree or 0.6 or so too much of a fluctuation?

No way, your in good shape, not to worry there. Some will fluctuate a couple degrees during the day.

I wasnt sure I had fluctuation of a few degrees before I got the leds and controller and what not but I mainly had soft corals and lps but I am getting into keeping sps and hasn't noticed the fluctuations until yesterday but it's been the hottest this week but we keep the ac set at 74

Just want to keep the sps happy.

I need to move the heater to the sump but haven't yet.
