So I have had my heater up and running with my apex controller for almost a year. It has recently been allowing the tank to drop about 2 degrees before kicking back in. I think i'm going to add a second heater just to help stabilize it. Any opinions on how i can stop this would be awesome!

Is it getting colder in your area? Maybe a second heater is what is needed and what you have now can't keep up. If the temp is getting warmer in your area then I would looking into replacing the heater or checking the controller itself.

I replace heaters around the year mark just cause that's about the time they start going south. Imo

Not to sound rude but are you using cheap heaters? My Via-Therm Heater has been with me on my first tank 9 years ago for three years and now on my current tank at 2 1/2 years.

I run two neo therms during the winter months, the second one rarely comes on, ambient temp of room and very cold nights down to 18 a couple times in the Calif desert. I haven't had a problem, I remove them during the summer. 80 gal, 200w heaters.
