I was just curious if people’s tank temperature varies throughout the year, specifically during each season. Obviously it’s easier to keep tanks warm in the summer and cooler in the winter. Do people keep slightly lower temps in the winter and slightly warmer in the summer or do people typically keep things steady year round?

I try to maintain 78° that's what my heaters are set for. During the winter it's not a problem. During the summer it climbs a bit. I have a chiller set to come on at 79.5° so usually it wont get past 80° on the hottest parts of the day..

Great question! What you keep and what are your goals are factors to consider.

I try to keep it at 77.8-78 in winter months with 4 heat stages. It climbs in the summer to nearly eighty, once summer is over I slowly change heater settings (once a month) to bring it back to 77.8 range.

Interesting. I live in the northeast and keep my house thermostat at 68 during the winter. My tank sits between Around 77 this time of year but gets up to about 79 in the summer

I'm in NYC and dont keep my house heat at 68 when not at home. My basement drops to 60 or right below at night (freezing nights only), only the 2nd floor zone is heated to 68 right before sleep and that too drops to 60 at around 3-4 AM, heat wakes up around 5:30AM before first member of the family is up to take a shower.

On the coldest nights, I've see all 4 heaters ON. (total system volume around 230G)

That’s Awesome, super precise. I’m guessing that’s an apex?

Yes, an old classic version as I bench test / figure out all available alternatives. With few alternatives dropping out of the market, we hobbyists are at a disadvantage overall.
