Does anyone have experience keeping fish in a tank that is too small for them on a temporary basis? I’m setting up a new tank and have thought about keeping fish in a 40 gallon breeder while working on the build. The only fish that would need a bigger tank would be my two spot tang. He technically would need 70 gallons. Would he be ok in 40 gallons for a couple weeks? The tank would also have 2 clowns and 4 chromis so not heavily stocked.

Thanks!

He will be on in a 40 for a few weeks. They don’t have the “recommended” room from the moment they are entered in to the fish hobby. The holding facilities and pet stores do not have room for large tanks.
