Tesalatta Eel

I went to the fish store yesterday and I found a tesalatta eel for 150$ and he had been there for awhile. I know a 180 is small for him when he gets bigger but I thought he’d be fine for now. The tank mates I’m curious about are my scopas tang, bird wrasse, 4” dog puffer and my French angelfish. I was thinking of removing the scopas so that wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me

That is a pretty large tessa, its going to eat your fish. They also get around 5-6 feet. Thats a huge fang tooth eel that does better in its own tank.

Tessas are the one eel that the whole “keep it fed” thing doesnt really work. Hate to say it but when you put that eel in with your fish especially at their sizes youve just given your eel a nice selection of fish to choose for his meals

If you want a large eel like that in your tank a zebra is the best choice. They are invert eaters not fish eaters and a very docile eel.

Ok I will have to either trade it in for a zebra eel or just give up on the eel idea altogether. I don’t know what the price difference is between the two but I appreciate the help

Yeah you will want to watch out for fang tooth (murena and gymnothorax eels. They eat fish.
