While doing a water change I was trying to siphon some Cyano off the base of my hammer and WSSHP - one of the heads of my hammer got sucked right up.
Theres a pic of the head below. Do I need to cut that part of the hammer off or will it just die? Will the whole colony die? Ugh!

I sucked my Xenia up once it died and then just magically appeared in the rocks last week

I think part of it broke off into the rocks after being sucked up, it went all the way through the siphon

It will gradually open back up. For the future, blow off cyano , etc gently with a turkey baster.
