Well, I'm about as slow as they come. Started working on the plumbing.

20190203_143403.jpg

Not sure if I'm going to have to use the "U" fittings in the top of the overflow, hoping I can get it quiet without using them.

Really trying to take my time and do it right without messing up the finishes. Using clear primer, taping all the joints before gluing and routing a bevel on all ends prior to gluing.

Advice on plumbing, don't rush! Measure multiple times, mistakes cost bigger than you think when it involves a few connections and as stated so many times, use multiple unions, they are truly your friend, very easy for making things line up as well as any future modifications, fixes or repairs.

Should finish plumbing this weekend, but we are attending Reefworx in Seattle so that might slow us down a bit, but getting closer to getting the whole thing inside. My plan is to build and assemble the entire tank in my garage, then take it down and move it inside.

Also started working on the screen top, and I think I'm going to include a "notch" for access for feeding, etc... and the red sea kit came with the parts to make that easy (got a good deal on a open box from @Bulk Reef Supply)

Oh my Gosh, it's been quite a while since I have posted. And well, there has been a ton going on in our lives! First off, the tank still isn't done, but is now inside the house. Here's some pictures of the trip getting it there.

All the garbage cans ready to move the setup from the garage to the family room

Here's where the new tank goes! Note the lines already run under the house for RODI and Saltwater from the mixing station in garage

Are you going to incorporate any of the garbage cans as part of your sump? I'm making a large tank build and as long as I find something with safe plastic, I'm going to make a sump with everyday items. No way I'm spending thousands of dollars for a water box that won't be seen by anyone

No, sorry, no garbage cans on this build. Totally understand wanting to save on the sump though, especially if it isn't seen. I've seen folks do some very smart and creative solutions that seem to work great!

I just looked on Craigslist and found dozens of cheap aquariums that people want to get rid of. My sump may end up looking like a jigsaw puzzle, but as long as it serves its purpose I'm happy [emoji106]

Overall, I think taking my time on this build has been a good thing. It was well worth taking the time to make sure everything was going to be able to move through the house, each part measured, etc.... the actual move in the house has gone quite smoothly.

Super happy to finally have it in the house. Now, we'll get all the equipment back up and running, do some aquascaping, drop in the sand and slowly start to move fish and corals over. Will have to move some electronics over from other tank too. Main apex and a few others. Build a surround for the stand and we'll be there. Pretty soon need to find a home for the old tank/stand.
