So it's been 20 days of fluconazole in the tank. GHA is completely gone as is the bryopsis. The valonia thinks it's a nice day spa and is actually spreading. As much as I hate to, I think at this point vibrant might be the only solution.
ooo not up for a rabbitfish or emerald crab?

I've tried three emerald crabs. They ate each other. I've tried a pithos crab who loves the small valonia, but won't touch the bigger stuff, and I'm not even sure it's still alive. Alas the tank is only a 75, so far too small for a rabbitfish. I'm running out of options as the stuff regrows as fast as I remove it. It's even on the underside of the rocks that are in perpetual dark.

Oops, I forgot to mention that the tank is now 3 years old and for the very first time I have two stony corals that are doing well, and one of them has just begun to grow off the plug! Of course one of them is dying and I lost two others, but baby steps!

It's been almost 6 weeks now with a 4x dose of fluconazole in the tank. All green hair algae is completely gone. The valonia still thinks this stuff is great and is growing like a weed. I can only conclude that fluconazole either doesn't work on valonia or that it takes a lot longer than expected. The red turf algae is also growing out of control. I'm now investigating a one spot foxface for the tank, but i've only found them on one site and they are far out of my price range. PetCo and others list them at a more reasonable price (I'd like a small one) but they aren't available. If someone reading this knows of a source of a small one for under $100 please let me know so I can check it out. I'd definitely pay more for aquacultured but haven't found record of anybody breeding this species yet.

Wha made you opt for a 4x dose? Did you do anything different from the other instructions?

I've read on here that a 4x dose is the only thing that will take care of valonia. Other than that I followed the directions exactly. So no clue why this is not working. I'm going to start water changes and running activated carbon in the next week or so under the assumption that it just isn't working. I can manually remove the valonia from the rocks that can be removed and it's back the next day.

Long time without an update. The last two months have been insane. We lost our 14 year old Labrador retriever and had a hip replaced.

The valonia is still overrunning the tank. I got a rabbitfish and it won't touch the stuff despite many attempts based on advice from on here. Today I bit the bullet and said to heck with it. I added Brightwell's Razor Marine to the tank. We'll see if that takes care of the stuff. Interestingly NO3 was zero and PO4 was 0.09 so I guess the valonia was doing something.

For some reason R2R lost this as my build thread in my profile. Took a while to find it and get it going again lol

Started using Razer and cannot yet tell much of a difference. Only on day four though.

I lost my dog of 14 years in April. We just adopted this little cuddle bug from a rescue on Saturday. It's not the same, but it's still a lot of fun.
