I love these threads.. trying to keep a better progression of the new tank. Tank is relatively young as it was an upgrade.
Wish I would have used the SLR every week.

This is the 5-year evolution of my mixed reef tank, 75 gallon with 25 gallon sump.

Feb. 2014 - tank is cycled and ready for a few fish. And why not put a few anemones in a newly cycled tank?

March 2015 - 1 yr. old. The rbta survived my stupidity, but the carpet nem and seabae did not. I switched to Geissemann T-5 bulbs but still had a generic T-5 light fixture. ;Dead

Sept. 2015 - rbta has split - still lots of room to cram stuff in, right? :)

Jan. 2016 - 2 yrs. old - Ricordea mushroom garden sounds fun!

Aug. 2016 - mushroom garden getting smaller. Where do those things go when we're not looking? :(

July 2017 - all Ricordea's MIA. Rbta has split a few more times. Upgraded lighting to ATI dimmable Sunpower with Reefbrite XHO Actinic LED. :)

Dec. 2017 - almost 4 yrs. old - things are happy with the new lighting.

Feb. 2018 - loving the ATI w/Reefbrites. Time to throw some acros in: ;Bored

So, uhhh, you should dip your acros before you throw them in!!

Last FTS was July 2018. Just before I started battling AEFW. ;Drool

I was able to beat the AEFW with a new product called Purge. These are the acros that survived the battle:

This thread was an interesting idea because I was surprised at the evolution of me as a reefer rather than the evolution of the tank. By the time I decided to focus on acropora, my tank had been going strong for nearly 4 yrs. But I might as well have been a new reefer. Each time I went in a new direction with the tank, I made some of the same mistakes that new reefers make. So I guess the moral to the story is that we are constantly learning in this hobby. You can escape pests for years but by being complacent, they'll sneak in if you don't take precautions.

I've learned a lot by making mistakes. I recently set up a second tank due to the first one getting too full. And I'm trying to do everything right with the new tank. The biggest thing I've learned is patience. Going slow is key to success in this hobby!:)
